Francesco D’Amato’s Research

Francesco D’Amato’s research activities are in the field of applied spectroscopy. Laser based gas or liquind analyzers are applied to environmental or industrial monitoring, in fixed locations or onboard vehicles, aircraft, balloons or drones.

Fourier Transform spectrometers are applied to the measurement of the Earth radiative budget.

Since 1997 he designs multipass cells, mainly Herriott type, for applications ranging from industrial stacks (room pressure, 180 °C) to stratosphere (20 mBar, -80 °C).

He also worked in the field of optical innovative components and systems. For instance thin (1 mm) mirrors for adaptive space optics, or solar concentrators.
